Brand awareness is the degree to which consumers are aware of a company’s brand. It’s important for any company to strive for high levels of brand awareness because it affects sales, profits, and customer loyalty. The more people who know about your company, the more likely they’ll be to purchase your products or services.
One method for increasing your brand awareness is advertising-both traditional and digital to reach as many people as possible.
It’s estimated that 1/3 of all Google AdWords traffic comes from mobile devices (which also shows how important mobile marketing has become).
Social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram have also become a huge part of advertising due to being free, easy to use, and having millions of active users.
Video sharing sites like YouTube have taken off as well with more than 4 billion videos viewed each day across the globe which brings in a lot of revenue for Google/Youtube through ads on both their website and within videos.
If you want people to see your brand, the best way is through social media or video ads but if those can’t be accomplished (because they’re too expensive), effective TV commercials are still an option that reaches thousands at once as well as online banners or magazines (if they exist).
How to Increase Brand Awareness
The first step to increase your brand awareness is to define what it means. Brand awareness is the degree to which consumers are aware of a company’s brand. It’s important for any company to strive for high levels of brand awareness because it affects sales, profits, and customer loyalty.
The more people who know about your company, the more likely they’ll be to purchase your products or services. One method for increasing your brand awareness is advertising – both traditional and digital – to reach as many people as possible.
As you can see from this definition there are two parts that go into building up an effective strategy:
1) Understanding how you want customers to view your product/service – this will help you decide on a marketing platform
2) Be creative! Since there are so many marketing platforms you can advertise on, the job of choosing what platform to use is not easy. To make it more manageable, go through each platform and look at who they’re targeting and how your company aligns with them.
For example, if you’re a large corporation that’s looking to increase sales in new markets then Instagram might be a good fit for you because of its strong influence among 18-24 year olds.
If you’re a young business owner aiming to get more out of your existing market base then Snapchat may be the best option since users spend so much time on it every day.
Paid Marketing Channels
This is an extremely popular social media (owned by Facebook) where users can share photos and videos. You’ll have to create a Facebook business page as well as an ad account in order to advertise on this platform. If you’ve used Google Ads for example, it’s similar but instead of just showing an ad at the top or bottom of a webpage, your ads will show up on users’ newsfeeds when they’re scrolling through them. The cost per click is typically lower than Google Ads because the people who see your ads are more likely to be interested since they’re already on a social media site vs. searching for something which makes them less likely to click on an ad.
This is another very popular photo-sharing app (owned by Facebook) where users can post pictures and short videos. You can advertise on Instagram through Facebook Ads like with Facebook business pages or you can use an Instagram business account (which allows you to create ads). Either way, make sure your image is eye-catching and captivating because many of the users are often scrolling through their feed quickly which makes it easy for them to miss an ad if it doesn’t catch their attention!
This app (owned by Snap Inc.) allows users to send photos and videos that disappear after a certain amount of time. There are also live “story” options where users post what they’re doing at that moment which disappears after 24 hours. Snapchat recently added an option for more longer-term posts under “Discover” where media outlets post content for people to view.
You can advertise on Snapchat in one of two ways:
1) Through a business account that lets you create and manage ads but doesn’t allow you to use the app’s creative tools and
2) Using an ad creation tool that lets you upload your own creative content (e.g. GIFs, videos, etc.) for users to see when they swipe up. Each ad will show up between 3-5 times before disappearing so if people don’t tap on it, there’s a good chance it will eventually be gone since other users’ stories keep appearing.
This is Google’s main search engine where people enter specific queries into their search bar that results in millions of web pages up as ‘hits’. You can advertise on Google Ads through a Google Business account which lets you create and manage ads as well as a website. Make sure your ad is eye-catching because people will be going through their search results quickly and have the option to put in their location for more targeted results.
This is the second most popular search engine (owned by Alphabet Inc.) where users can upload videos of themselves, links to other videos, or simply watch what others have uploaded. You can create an ad using a Google Business account which has all the same features as with Google Ads but also allows you to set up a series of videos that play automatically without sound before someone clicks “play” or record a video directly from your computer/mobile device/camera.
This is Microsoft’s search engine (owned by the largest PC manufacturer) where users can enter queries into a search bar and see web results as well as video results. You can create an ad using a Bing Business account which includes all the same features as with Google Ads but gives you more detailed reporting since it pulls from two different engines, not just one. In addition to videos, you’ll also have the option to upload pictures directly from your computer or mobile device if needed.
The more ads people see for your brand, the more familiar they’ll become with it which is why it’s so important to have a strong presence on social media. Also, if you want to reach an even larger audience/more targeted market, consider using multiple ad platforms so you can achieve higher levels of brand awareness in less time.
